I believe, my first sketch ever of my muse years ago. Since then I’ve created a good amount of work because of her, based on her. Many of which I have posted recently. And more to post soon. She was kind of or pretty much was a catalyst that amplified my work in terms of quality, skill, and technique over the years. What started out as simple portrait sketches, would move on to bigger portrait pieces, experimentation with inks, and other mediums, and till recently painting.
This is why sketching is very important. To me at least. It is a launching platform for new ideas, techniques, and quick encouragement to push on. Of course sketching in general has its practical uses such as practice makes perfect but it’s what you put into those sketches, those techniques you refine and develop that you put to use into something bigger and better. And that sense of elation when finishing a good sketch propels you forward to push yourself into unknown ground with some form of fearlessness.
